SMART CAR RENTAL – Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is included in your rates?
A: Comprehensive insurance, road tax, 24 Hours roadside assistance, up to 2 drivers.
Q: Are taxes included in the rate?
A: No. Rate is subject to the prevailing GST (7% as of 2018).
Q: How old do I need to be to drive a hire vehicle?
A: The minimum age is 23 and the maximum is 65.
Q: What do I need to bring with me when collecting the vehicle?
A: A full driving licence for all named drivers, passport or identity card must be shown at the time of rental. A credit card and it must be in the name of one of the drivers.
Q: How long do I need to have held a license for?
A: Hirer must have a driving experience of at least 2 years.
Q: Can someone other than myself drive the vehicle?
A: Only the Hirer, other drivers are subject to an additional driver's insurance and that driver's licence and passport or identity card must be presented at time of rental in addition to driver/s meeting SMART’s motor insurance criteria.
Q: Can I take the vehicle for cross-border driving?
A: Yes you can, but you must buy the additional insurance surcharge and only up to Kuala Lumpur. Please contact the renting branch to make arrangements, at least 3days prior to travel.
Q: What happen if the vehicle breakdown?
A: SMART provides 24-hour roadside assistance service. All you have to do is call our 24-hour call centre and the number can be found on your rental agreement - Call +65 6563 1110 during office hours to notify our staff of your situation.
